love your commentary about building a new home. I find that Americans buy a home not reading the fine print but thinking the sellers will in a paternal manner take care of them or maybe in absoulte blissful ignorance they sign the dotted line without knowing all the details you mentioned. Energy efficient might get top priority maybe. The fact that a bank will loan them money may be all the prospective young or first time buyer wants to know. Realtors seem to be gaining on attorneys for all their double talk as a salesman. It’s the sale that counts not the quality. I found the homes in Houston in the 80′s sadly lacking in quality. I found the homes in central Texas had much greater quality for the money because the reputation of the builder will follow them in the less popul;ated areas.
As a orthopedic nurse, and a senior citizen now I wonder why the homes are not built with the needs of people in mind bad knees. Curse that beautiful hard tile, think painful hips and knees…is tile a fad? Orthopedic doctors won’t run out of work. We spend all day on hard floors. Think carpet, cedar and all kinds of allergies, people stripping it up and coughing sputtering less.
So what about the scary water shortage? San Antonio in particular, So showers are nortorisly filled with RAIN shower heads and lots of fancy water wasting gadgets. Must admit the water conserving commodes that must be flushed twice or three times are very tireson and wasteful.
So, thank you for all the energy efficient window choices now.I wish I could afford to replace all of mine or maybe just the cloudy ones that have air leaks. They are only 35 years old. Friend paid $10,000.00 for all new windows in her home. Must admit they are great..so much more light too.
Financially, our homes are in trouble with the average price of a home in the US. Are the home builders and bankers together in their greed to take as much as the market will allow?
I’d love for my daughter & family to build a home on our extra acreage. I’d love for my single 36 yr old daughter to get a town home with less maintaince she desires but things are not lookin too positive in our economy presently.
Good luck to you and your business.
